In a Nutshell: Experian’s monitoring service is set up a bit different than others. They actually offer a free basic monitoring service and a more in-depth subscription that you’ll pay monthly for. Experian, much like TransUnion, is one of the three bureaus, so they tend to lean more toward providing Experian reports and services. Overall, though, they have an easy to use member site and a lot of good information.

Price

If you choose to purchase full service monitoring with all the benefits, the cost is pretty average compared to other services. Experian offers a free trial, then charges after that. However, what makes them different is that they also give you the option of using a free monitoring service. It’s very basic, only giving you access to your Experian credit report, but you’ll still be notified of changes on your report and have access to toll free customer service, which is great when you’re on a tight budget. If you choose to pay for the full Experian CreditWorks monitoring service you’ll get some cool benefits.

Benefits

Experian CreditWorks comes with a slew of benefits including providing a full credit report from all three bureaus and your FICO credit score. Most monitoring sites provide you with a non-FICO score which tends to be slightly higher than the FICO score that lenders actually look at. So, knowing your FICO score is a great asset. You’ll have daily access to your Experian report, but Experian only offers the three bureau report quarterly. Other than that, the paid monthly service offers fraud insurance and support, report and score tracking with alerts, and CreditLock, which allows you to lock access to your Experian credit report and only unlock it when you want to apply for credit yourself.

Ease of Use

Experian makes it pretty easy to customize what you want to know and when. Their membership site is simple and easy to use, but they also give you a lot of options if you want to just use the free service, pay monthly for CreditWorks, or just order a one time report. As a big credit bureau with a lot of money, Experian has made their sites attractive and resources helpful, making this a great choice for customizable credit monitoring service.

”I knew I needed the help of a credit repair company after I found out the state of my credit report, but the industry seemed so shady that I wasn’t sure who to choose.
